Get has several different meanings. Here are the most common:
To receive/acquire/obtain:
He got a lot of votes in the last election.
I managed to get a copy of the report.
To become + adjective:
He got angry when he saw the results of the election.
I get nervous before I give a speech.
To take/bring:
Can you get me a coffee, please?
get a taxi, train, bus etc...
To arrive:
I got to the airport late and missed the plane.
To get back: To return
I'm not in Rome at the moment. I get back on Tuesday.
